Ipade is the first event and meeting space in Washington, D.C. specifically conceived and designed for Black women and women of color. Ideally situated at 1700 Connecticut Ave. NW at the very heart of D.C.’s Dupont Circle, Ipade advertises itself as the most unique event, meeting and creation space in the city. Plus, the area around the space is a walker’s paradise with a variety of hotels, restaurants, fast food chains, parks, cafes and more found in its immediate vicinity. Cyclers will also enjoy the extensive network of bike paths they can use to get to Ipade. Or, several bus stops can also be found nearby and parking spots are available on-site.
Notably, Ipade is more than a simple coworking space. Rather, it’s a haven for Black women, femmes, and they/thems of color where they can connect, collaborate and create a strong community. More precisely, the incubator is a place where Black and Brown female creatives can gather to propel each other’s professional growth in the most empowering way possible. Ipade also acts as a canvas where one can host a team retreat, production shoot or social gathering.
Here, there’s only one membership plan, which is priced at an accessible monthly rate of $100. Members receive unlimited access to the space during working hours, special discounts on meeting rooms and venue rentals, networking opportunities at events held on-site, complimentary printing, coffee and tea, along with other fantastic perks.
Additionally, economic justice, inclusivity, community, self-care, and self-love are values that are at the forefront of the Ipade mentality, and all events, gatherings and occurrences function with these in mind. The warm and inviting ambiance of the vibrant Ipade space is ideal for team retreats, photoshoots, weddings, showers, panels, screenings, launch parties, video productions and other social events, including pop-ups, brunches and family celebrations. In any case, the team behind the space will help you put together a successful and memorable event.

Most, if not all, amenities are available to you as a member, regardless of the type of membership. Some shared spaces, like the meeting rooms, need to be booked in advance and private offices are only available for those with a subscription. However, all the other areas, like the lounge, kitchen and breakout spaces, are usable by every member. All complimentary services are available and anything ancillary can be purchased or negotiated with Ìpàdé.

The open desk is the way to go if you’re looking for a flexible workspace in an open environment where you can socialize with other members. Or, choose a dedicated desk if you want a designated space that also allows you to keep in touch with the community.
A private office works wonders if you or your team need a quiet, secluded space to conduct your work and interact with people in your organization.
It’s important to understand the different types of coworking arrangements available to you, depending on the type of work that you do and its duration, and whether you’re a solo worker or part of a team.
