The coworking space uniquely located at the Center for New Music is ideal for anyone working in the music industry in San Francisco. Although not exclusive to musicians, those in the field will love the creative vibes here, from the window gallery of one-of-a-kind instruments to the music-related décor of the offices and shared spaces. Located in the Tenderloin, the Center for New Music is also situated among many clubs and concert venues, as well as restaurants and cafes. As such, it’s also easily accessible by public transit. Likewise, public parking is also conveniently located nearby.
Amenities available to members at the Center for New Music include Wi-Fi, a stocked kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea, mail services, printing services, and access to a conference room by reservation. Notably, the space offers great flexibility for members who seek collaboration, as well as those who seek individual space. Alternatively, private offices are available for members who require dedicated focus and quiet. Or, fixed desks are available for those who prefer a more collaborative environment. A basic coworking membership is also available for members who don’t need a dedicated space, but who still want to take advantage of the Center for New Music’s creative atmosphere.
Musicians of all types use the Center for coworking, as well as for rehearsals, performances, workshops, trainings and other events related to the industry. To that end, a rehearsal studio is available from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, and the main performance hall is available the same hours on weekends and during the evenings Monday through Friday. Plus, in addition to the usual coworking perks, Center for New Music members also receive invitations to member-only events held at the center. Members also benefit from terrific discounts on public performances held here and at other venues in the area. Lastly, all members have access to the Center’s music library — an impressive collection of more than 400 new book titles, as well as scores and CDs.

At 55 Taylor Sreet, those looking for a workspace for an entire day, Open Desk Coworkings are available. In addition, Open Desk Coworkings can also be booked on a monthly basis.
-
Most, if not all, amenities are available to you as a member, regardless of the type of membership. Some shared spaces, like the meeting rooms, need to be booked in advance and private offices are only available for those with a subscription. However, all the other areas, like the lounge, kitchen and breakout spaces, are usable by every member. All complimentary services are available and anything ancillary can be purchased or negotiated with Center for New Music.
-
Storage in coworking spaces can be limited, with most of it reserved for members with dedicated desks and private offices. However, you can reach out to the coworking operator using the form on the right side of the page to see what options are currently available.
-
Absolutely. Flexibility is one of the best parts of coworking. Most coworking memberships are month-to-month, so you can quickly adjust your space preferences according to your unique requirements and the size of your team. Whether that means upgrading the space or downsizing it or even completely changing the type of coworking subscription that you use, you always have the option to adjust as you go.
It may be possible to adjust your membership before current membership ends, but you will have to discuss and negotiate directly with Center for New Music, who is more than happy to help out.

The open desk is the way to go if you’re looking for a flexible workspace in an open environment where you can socialize with other members. Or, choose a dedicated desk if you want a designated space that also allows you to keep in touch with the community.
A private office works wonders if you or your team need a quiet, secluded space to conduct your work and interact with people in your organization.
It’s important to understand the different types of coworking arrangements available to you, depending on the type of work that you do and its duration, and whether you’re a solo worker or part of a team.
