CitizenM, a well-known hotel chain with sites across Europe and North America, has launched a subscription coworking service, providing flexible workspaces in 34 of its hotels.

The membership is priced at $120/100/£90 per year and it includes additional benefits such as discounts on drinks, food and room booking, plus the possibility to upgrade rooms and to do late checkouts. The layouts are flexible, with natural light and superfast Wi-Fi.

CitizenM’s dive into coworking follows other hotel groups that adopted this trend. Accor became Wojo’s partner, Ruby, a luxury brand, is offering coworking spaces in Europe, and in the UK, Village Hotels is following the trend of incorporating workspaces into its hotels.

Robin Chad, chief brand officer at CitizenM, highlighted the increased demand for flexible working environments: “We are seeing increasing demand for remote work and flexible working environments, and CitizenM hotels are perfectly designed to serve these needs. Whether you’re a local seeking a more inspiring, dynamic place to do your work, or a founder looking to scale their business to a new market and needing a homebase, our new coworking proposition, available through an accessible membership program, offers solutions for any type of guest or traveler.”

As Chad stated, the trend of coworking spaces in hotels is growing due to the rise of remote work and digital nomads. This not only benefits workers and travelers, but it also helps hotels to attract more guests and support their leisure and professional activities alike.

CitizenM has new openings planned for Miami South Beach and Boston Back Bay. In Europe, upcoming projects include a new hotel, London Olympia, as part of a mixed-use development with a live music venue. In 2025, CitizenM is expected to launch hotels in Dublin, Milan and Georgetown, Washington D.C.
