Given that 63% of Americans start their days with a cup of coffee and the typical consumer drinks about three cups a day, it’s safe to say that coffee is crucial — especially during a workday. Ranging from premium to locally sourced and Starbucks specialties, coffee is consistently sought-after by most people who get their kicks and energy boost from caffeine.
Notably, with most corporate workers benefitting from complimentary coffee at their workplace, this is one perk that has transferred over to coworking spaces, as well. Apart from the obvious and immediate benefits, saving money on the daily cup of coffee can add up at the end of the month. And, as one of our previous studies showed, in 10 cities across the country, workers make up for the difference between a monthly coworking membership and the cost of working from home for the same price they would spend buying one take-out coffee per day.
But, in which U.S. cities do coworkers have the best chances of landing in a space that keeps them caffeinated and energized? To find out, we looked at our own coworking space data and the amenities they provide to determine the exact locations where dozens of coffee-loving coworking spaces were at the disposal of remote workers, freelancers, entrepreneurs and digital nomads who like to start their workday with a good cup of coffee. Here’s what we found:
Almost 200 Coworking Spaces in NYC Offer Complimentary Coffee to Members
In each of the following 10 U.S. cities, there were at least 40 coworking spaces that provided complimentary coffee to their members as a means of boosting their energy and productivity levels.
1. New York City
Perhaps unsurprising given that the Manhattan metro area has the absolute highest number of coworking spaces in the country, NYC naturally checked the most spaces where coffee was part of the deal. More precisely, 198 coworking spaces included complimentary coffee as part of their membership plans, which accounted for more than 82% of the total coworking spaces in the city. This makes it extremely easy for working professionals to find a place that caters to their needs revolving around the daily dose of caffeine. Namely, Industrious, Spaces and WeWork are some of the top operators with various spaces throughout the city that also provide free coffee as part of their coworking plans.
2. Houston
Though one might be looking for a refreshing iced coffee during the summer months in the South, in Houston, workers had exactly 100 coworking spaces at their disposal that included coffee in their memberships. That’s 67% of the total spaces in the city. Some of the operators with prominent presences in the market here are Workstyle Flexible Spaces, HQ and Industrious.
3. Atlanta
With one of the highest shares of coworking spaces that checked the complimentary coffee box among their amenities (75% of the total), Atlanta is also a great place to be as a coffee lover. Here, 72 coworking spaces offered free coffee as part of the deal, thereby ensuring that members can kickstart their mornings with enough energy and keep those levels up throughout the day. Specifically, Industrious and Regus both have multiple spaces throughout the city and are known for including coffee in their coworking subscriptions.
4. Chicago
Professionals who want to cowork in Chicago will be happy to know that 65 coworking spaces — a 64% share of the total inventory in the city — offered complimentary coffee to their members through operators in the market like Industrious, Regus and WeWork. And, while good coffee is easy to find at every corner of this vibrant city, it’s sure nice to have a warm cup readily available every morning at work.
5. Denver
Of all of the cities in our list, Denver had the highest percentage of coworking spaces that offered complimentary coffee and/or other beverages to their members — a whopping 86% of the total number of flex workspaces in the market. More precisely, in 62 coworking spaces around the city, members can enjoy a free cup (or multiple cups) of coffee every day. In particular, Venture X, Regus and Spaces are some of the operators that provide these amenities via solid presences in Denver.
6. Washington, D.C.

- 49 coworking spaces offered complimentary coffee
- 53% of coworking spaces in the city provided free coffee
- Top operators that included coffee in their memberships: Industrious & Spaces
10. San Francisco
- 44 coworking spaces offered complimentary coffee
- 51% of coworking spaces in the city provided free coffee
- Top operators that included coffee in their memberships: WeWork, Industrious
Regus, Industrious & Spaces Check Most Spaces Where Members Get Coffee as Part of Their Membership
Nationally, Regus was the top operator that catered best to coffee-loving coworkers in 176 spaces. Industrious was next in line with 126 spaces that provided complimentary coffee as part of their membership, followed at a distance by Spaces with 79.
Lastly, Workstyle Flexible Spaces and HQ rounded out the top five coworking operators that included free coffee as a perk with 66 and 59 spaces around the country, respectively.
Methodology
For the purposes of this analysis, we looked at office-type coworking properties from CoworkingCafe.com. We then focused only on the properties that included complimentary coffee as part of their amenities and highlighted the locations with the highest numbers of such spaces.
